The Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management of Fisheries
College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi invites application for the various posts
under TANII Scheme on “Assessment of spawning seasonality of major marine
fishery groups along the coast of Tamil Nadu for sustainable fishery
management”. The scheme will be operated in the following three constituent
colleges of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University for a period of two
years.
Post Senior Research Fellow (SRF) – 3 Numbers

Job responsibilities The selected candidate is expected to assist PI,
Co-PI’s, SRFs, and TAs of the project in carrying
out the above mentioned activities in general and
fish sampling in the fish Landing centres, data
collection and analysis, laboratory work on
reproductive biology of fishes, and collection of
eggs and larvae of fishes in particular
Conditions governing the appointment:
- The above vacancies are purely temporary and co-terminus with the scheme
- The appointee will be governed by the regulations & rules which are in force
in the university for the contractual engagement or manpower - All candidates must send the prescribed application form to

recent passport size photograph and self-attested certificates in support of
age, qualifications, experience and other credentials to [email protected] on
or before 16th August, 2022 by 1700 hrs. All applications received after the
mentioned time limit will be summarily rejected. Shortlisted eligible candidates
will be invited for personal interview through email. - The last date is the cut-off date for all purposes including
Age/Qualification/Experience etc.
- Unless a candidate sends Certificate/Provisional Certificate in respect of
Graduation & Post Graduation Qualification, his/her application will be
summarily rejected. - The Principal Investigator (PI) of the project will have full discretion to fix
separate minimum criteria for shortlisting and criteria for interview for each
category of candidates. - The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum requirements and
the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called
for interview. If the number of applications, received in response to
advertisement, are large, it will not be convenient or possible to call all
candidates for interview. Accordingly, Principal Investigator (PI) of the
project may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a
reasonable limit of desirable qualification and / or on the record of
academic performance and / or relevant experience for the post
prescribed in the advertisement as per the specific requirement of the
project and /or any other benchmark decided by a committee constituted
to screen the applications. The final selection of the candidate will be
based on the candidate’s performance in the Interview and based on the
selection committee’s recommendations. No correspondence will be
entertained with candidates who are not called for Interview /not selected
for appointment. - Canvassing in any form and / or bringing any influence, political or
otherwise will be treated as disqualification of candidature. No interim
correspondence / inquiry will be entertained. - No TA/DA shall be provided for appearing for the interview or for joining at the
specified place - The places of posting indicated above are provisional and liable to change
subject to the need and essentiality in the scheme work - The job involves halting during visit to fish landing centres / fishing harbours.
The selected candidates may be required to travel in the sea for sample
collection. - The selected candidates will be stationed at any one of three Institutes
mentioned above or sampling site as per requirement time to time and will
have to conduct extensive field work involving frequent travel, laboratory
works and survey of different sites for sample collection. - Selected Candidate (s) will be required to produce all original documents at
the time of interview. - Any amendment in the notification will be published only in the website
- The selected candidates shall have no right/claim for regular appointment at
TNJFU at any point of time. Further, no claim for continuance or switching
over to any other vacant post is possible - The appointing authority reserves the right to defer the filling of above
positions now announced without assigning any reasons there for - Selected candidates may have to join the post immediately
- In view of COVID-19 Pandemic, Strict Social Distancing norms will be
followed. No candidate will be allowed to enter TNJFU-FCRI, Thoothukudi
campus without mask. - The Dean’s decision will be final and binding on all aspects.
Preference will be given to the candidates with essential qualification and
